Filter bubble

Short Definition
Definition

The Filter Bubble is a term coined by internet activist Eli Pariser. It refers to the phenomenon of people being trapped in an "echo chamber" of their own beliefs, reinforced by the algorithms used by social media and search engines. These algorithms tend to show us content that is similar to what we have already clicked on or liked, resulting in a reinforcement of our existing beliefs. This can lead to a dangerous echo chamber effect, where people only ever see content that agrees with their worldview, and never encounter any dissenting voices. This can create a distorted view of reality, and make it hard for people to understand different points of view.
